
Emma Lewis
Emma Lewis, PhD, MS, is a Postdoctoral Research Associate at Texas A&M AgriLife as part of the Institute for Advancing Health Through Agriculture. Dr. Lewis studied Psychology and Anthropology at Tulane University where she earned her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees before pursuing a Doctoral degree in Public Health Nutrition at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. In Baltimore, her research focused on leveraging digital technology to improve access to nutritious foods for small urban food retailers and their customers. Dr. Lewis served as project lead for the Baltimore Urban food Distribution (“BUD”) study, and held an NIH T32 Predoctoral Clinical Training Fellowship from 2020-2024 which supported her to investigate systems-based approaches for reducing diet-related chronic disease risk. Now based in Dallas, Dr. Lewis is interested in expanding her research scope to include the development and testing of multi-methods, community-informed strategies to promote nutrition security, physical activity, and increased time spent in nature for urban and rural Texans.
