
Beth Racine
Beth Racine, DrPH, RD (El Paso, TX) is the Texas A&M AgriLife Research Center Director at El Paso, The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Associate Department Head in the Nutrition Department, and a Professor in the Nutrition Department. She is a registered dietitian with a master’s degree in nutrition and public health. She also has a Doctor of Public Health from Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. As the Center Director Texas A&M AgriLife Research Center at El Paso, she identifies critical regional agricultural and life science research needs. Then, identifies resources (faculty, staff, funding) to address these needs. For Extension, she oversees nutrition education faculty who develop resources for Extension County Agents. Agents then provide nutrition education in their local communities. As a professor, she conducts research studying the factors that predict dietary intake. Currently she is interested in the diet choice of emerging adults. Dr. Racine has been with Texas A&M for 2.5 years. Her greatest accomplishment since beginning this position is securing $30 million in funding from the USDA to develop and manage the Rio Grande Colonias USDA Regional Food Business Center. This project provides support to businesses along the food system supply chain with the goal of strengthening the regional food system.
